Brian’s passion for birds started as a young boy, with a love of drawing them rapidly following. Having been a teacher for 18 years, he became Tour Manager for Limosa Holidays, guiding many tours to over 30 countries, including Switzerland, Corsica and Sicily, but also in SE Asia, Argentina, Brazil, Georgia and New Mexico. He has a special affinity with the birds and butterflies of the Alps (walking on the glaciers with his dad from the age of 7), and Cape May on the New Jersey coast.
He is also a talented bird artist - examples of his work can be seen in the acclaimed Handbook of the Birds of the World (HBW), and the Helm Field Guide Birds of Madagascar and the Indian Ocean - with recent projects being work on two major new guides, including the recently published Birds of Greater Southern Africa.
Living on the Suffolk coast with Janet, his patient wife, he divides his time between working on environmental consultancy and concentrating on birding his local patch that encompasses Southwold, Walberswick, and the Blyth estuary, searching especially for migrants and gulls.
