Teppo has had a deep appreciation and interest in nature since childhood. As a classically trained musician the artistic beauty of the natural world has sparked a great enthusiasm for nature photography. Having specialized in butterflies for almost two decades and capturing them in their natural surroundings, he has become a highly acclaimed and versatile butterfly photographer. Besides having contributed photos to many publications in Finland and abroad, he has also authored original nature publications in Finland.
Having captured the complete butterfly fauna of Finland, he has developed an expertise in their life cycle, habitat and identification. To fulfill his passion Teppo has contributed to the National Butterfly Recording Scheme in Finland as well as the Butterfly Monitoring Scheme of Arctic Butterflies in northern Lapland.
Besides acquiring a well rounded knowledge of the Nordic and Baltic butterfly species, Teppo has actively travelled widely to learn about and photograph European butterfly species more extensively. His family ties have made France almost a second home to him during the summers, and frequent trips to South America have given him a wider perspective of the butterfly world.
Always ready for a new adventure, Teppo is thrilled to make the most out of every Mariposa holiday and share the passion for nature with others.
